Physical discomfort, stress, and tension are signs that the body has lost its balance.
At Kernmassage, various therapeutic and massage techniques are individually combined to release blockages, restore the flow of energy, and support the body in regaining its natural balance.
The aim of each treatment is to relieve pain, improve mobility, and activate the body’s self-regulatory capacity – for a life that feels healthy at its core rather than stiff and restricted.
Each session begins with a detailed consultation to clearly assess symptoms and individual needs.
Depending on the situation, different methods are applied – ranging from classical medical massage, Amatsu Ryoho, and craniosacral work to lymphatic drainage, trigger point therapy, or cupping.
The combination of these techniques allows for targeted and sustainable results for the following conditions:
-
Spinal disorders
-
Sports injuries
-
General muscle tension
-
Pain points with radiating areas
-
Chronic inflammation
-
Diarrhea/constipation disorders
-

PETER KERNSTOCK

I work as a medical massage therapist in Vienna, grounded in Western conventional medicine and guided by a balanced integration of Western medical principles and the Eastern health philosophy of Traditional Chinese Medicine.
My professional path has taken me through work at a physical therapy institute, clinical experience in a hospital setting, and independent practice at the Panta Rhei Therapy Center with Dr. Gregor Timmel, where I continue to work today.
I originally came to bodywork through Amatsu Ryoho. The holistic approach of this method and its roots in Traditional Chinese Medicine inspired me to pursue further training in conventional medicine and ultimately to become a certified medical massage therapist. During a period in which I personally suffered from allergic asthma, I experienced a rapid and lasting improvement through these treatments. It was particularly striking for me to see so clearly the effect this work can have on body, mind, and emotional well-being.
Today, I work with methods such as medical massage, Amatsu Ryoho, craniosacral work, and trigger point therapy. The aim is to effectively address functional complaints through the body and to create stable conditions for holistic health, mobility, and inner balance —
Healthy to the core (german: “Kern”), not stiff to the bone!

TREATMENT SERVICES
Through extensive advanced training and continuing education, I am able to offer a wide range of treatment options. These methods can also be combined within a single session, allowing the treatment to be adapted precisely to the individual situation and tailored to each client’s needs.
Most of these techniques can be applied through clothing, so you do not necessarily need to undress if this feels uncomfortable. However, wearing comfortable clothing is recommended to allow for optimal relaxation.

RATES
My fees are based on the desired treatment duration, regardless of the methods applied.
Medical Massage & Commercial Massage – briefly explained
In my practice, I offer both commercial massage and medical massage. The difference lies in the formal framework.
In cases of medical conditions or injuries, a doctor’s referral is required for medical massage. In this case, a portion of the costs may be reimbursed by the health insurance provider, depending on the insurer, policy, or supplementary insurance. Detailed information on reimbursement amounts can be found here.
Commercial massage is available without a doctor’s referral; however, costs are generally not covered by health insurance.
The prices are the same for both types of massage. If you are unsure which option is suitable for you or whether a medical referral is required, we are happy to clarify this together.
The first session of medical massage includes an initial consultation (anamnesis) lasting approximately 20 minutes.

Lymphatic drainage is an excellent method for treating edema and swelling. During the treatment, lymph node regions are stimulated through gentle massage, helping to transport excess fluid, waste products, and metabolic byproducts out of the intercellular spaces. In addition, the immune system is regulated and wound healing is promoted.
The well-known classical massage—also called Swedish massage—uses kneading, stretching, pressure, and pulling techniques to relax and loosen muscle groups. This method is excellent for relaxation massages and can be easily combined with other techniques.
Acupoint massage is based on traditional Chinese knowledge and adapted to Western thinking. According to Asian philosophy, disturbances in the body’s energetic balance can cause illness. By treating the energy pathways (meridians) and their specific points with a massage stick, harmony is restored. This removes energy flow blockages and stimulates the body’s natural self-healing abilities. Experience this healing massage in Vienna’s 7th district.
Foot reflexology massage is a time-tested method, dating back to antiquity, for relieving pain and promoting relaxation. By stimulating acupuncture points and reflex zones, this massage releases blockages and tension, thereby activating energy flow and the body’s self-healing abilities. It supports the feet, promotes deep relaxation, and can also have a positive effect on digestion.
As early as 400 BC, Hippocrates knew about the practice of cupping. In this method, the skin is stimulated using vacuum-sealed cups. Modern science explains its positive effects through Head’s zones, cutivisceral reflex pathways, and segmental connections. In short, by stimulating specific areas of the skin, blood circulation in the muscles and organs is increased, thereby boosting metabolism. This, in turn, promotes the body’s regeneration and can be wonderfully combined with other massage techniques.
The colorful tapes have become increasingly popular in recent years. Taping can help promote and maintain treatment success, particularly for sports injuries but also for postural issues. In addition, joints can be stabilized and poor posture corrected with the use of these elastic bands. Upon request, I offer this form of therapy as a complement to massage.
